WATERVILLE, Maine. – The Connecticut College women's ice hockey team fell to NESCAC opponent Colby by a score of 3-1 on Saturday as the teams met for the second day in a row.
The first period didn't amount to a score for either team, but there was plenty of action. The Camels started out strong, forcing Colby goalkeeper Nina Prunster to make 13 saves in the period while only having to deal with six shots from the Mules. Despite two power play attempts for each team, there was no scoring to be seen thanks to strong defense across the board.
The second period saw Colby jump out to a 1-0 lead on a goal by Georgia Pettygrove that was followed up by a conversion by Lexi Rittenhouse just five minutes later to give the Mules a two-score advantage. The Camels continued to shoot on goal but once again Prunster prevented them from getting on the board with nine saves.
In the third period, Colby outshot Connecticut 13-7. Three minutes into the period, the Mules jumped out to a 3-0 lead. Shortly following that goal, the Camels responded as junior
Caroline O'Keefe (Winthrop, Mass.) gave the team their first and only goal of the day. The remainder of the period was a stalemate, as the Camels were unable to make up ground on the Mules
