INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Senior
Maddie Ford (Acton, Mass.) posted a top-five finish in the 200-yard freestyle to earn NCAA All-America laurels and help the Connecticut College women's swimming & diving team score its first points of the national event, held at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis. The Camels currently sit in 17th place with 26 points after two days of competition.
Ford finished fifth in the 200 free and earned NCAA All-America status for her efforts by touching the wall in 1:50.22. She advanced to the finals by punching in a time of 1:50.56 in the preliminary round. This marks the second time that Ford has received individual All-America accolades. She previously was recognized with the distinction in the same event in 2020. Ford's performance earned a team-high 14 points for Conn's team score.
Like Ford, teammate
Vaughn Ammon (Franklin, Tenn.) raced in the 200 free and earned All-America honorable mention laurels after finishing 12th, recording a time of 1:50.54. This is Ammon's first individual honorable mention distinction.
Senior
Andrea Higgins (Peabody, Mass.) also received All-America honorable mention status for her 10th place finish in the 100-yard butterfly. Higgins touched the wall in 55.63 seconds and will compete in the 200 fly on Friday.
