NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College women's lacrosse team defeated in-state Eastern Connecticut State University by a score of 18-6 at Silfen Field on Wednesday evening.
The Camels got out to a quick lead, largely in part due to three first quarter goals from junior
Emily Yorns (Longmeadow, Mass.) on what would end up being a career night for her with six goals at the end of the contest. The Camels maintained a lead throughout the first half, entering the intermission with a 13-3 lead following three more goals by Yorns and two goals each from freshmen
Greta Panke (Milldale, Conn.) and
Aine Downey (Brookline, Mass.).
As the second half commenced, the story was much of the same with the Camels maintaining a lead throughout the period and freshman
Emma Ognibene (New Canaan, Conn.) added two goals of her own to help build the lead. The fourth quarter was relatively quiet, with each team scoring twice and keeping the Camels far ahead for the entirety of the period.
Sophomore
Violette Nidds (Ridgewood, N.J.) earned the win for Connecticut College while making 5 saves in the contest. Sarah Gallagher took the loss for Eastern despite making 12 saves in the losing effort.
