HARTFORD, Conn. – The Connecticut College women's lacrosse team dropped a conference contest to the #18 Trinity Bantams in a 13-7 decision on a Wednesday evening at Sheppard Field.
The Bantams hopped out in front in the first quarter, outscoring the Camels 4-0. The visitors got on the scoreboard in the second when junior Emily Yorns (Longmeadow, Mass.) scored two goals in just over three minutes, to cut the lead to two. After another stretch of Bantam goals, sophomore
Julianna Ingrassia (Garden City, N.Y.) added one for the Camels with 18.6 seconds left in the second quarter, bringing the score to a 7-3 advantage for the hosts going into halftime.
Despite a hat trick from Ingrassia and one goal from freshman Emma Ognibene (New Canaan, Conn.) and freshman
Aine Downey (Brookline, Mass.) each, the Bantams controlled this game, never trailing. Trinity added three more goals in both the 3rd and 4th quarters, finishing the game 13-7.
Connecticut College (5-5, NESCAC 0-5) was led by Ingrassia with 3 goals and an assist. Yorns finished with two goals and an assist, Ognibene added one goal and one assist, Downey had one goal, and freshman Greta Panke (Milldale, Conn.) had one assist against the Bantams. Sophomore goalie
Violette Nidds (Ridgewood, N.J.) recorded the loss with 12 saves.
The Camels will return home to play Tufts on Saturday and will celebrate its three seniors prior to the game.
