NEWPORT, R.I. – The Connecticut College women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision in non-conference action at Salve Regina University on Tuesday night at the Rodgers Recreation Center.
The Seahawks (7-5 overall) won by set scores of 25-21, 25-21, 25-16 behind a match-high 11 kills from Madison Lee (Dover, Fla.).
Christina Leduc (North Dennis, Mass.) paced Conn College with eight kills and a block.
With the score tied at 7-7 in the opening set, the hosts used a 5-1 run to pull in front for good. The Camels finished the set with a 12-9 edge in kills, but could never grab the lead down the stretch.
In the second set, Conn fought back from an early deficit to tie the score at 18-18. However, Lauren Hoyle and Lee combined for six kills as Salve Regina won seven of the ensuing 10 points.
The Seahawks rode the serve of Kate Murphy (Dover, N.H.) to an 8-2 lead in the final set. After the Camels fought back to close the gap to 19-15, Salve Regina took six of the final seven points to close out the match.
Riley Lord (Exeter, N.H.) and
Annie Wibbelsman (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) added six kills apiece to help spur the Camels.
Julia Dailey (Charlottesville, Va.) recorded a match-high 22 digs to lead the defense, and setters
Olivia Dow (San Anselmo, Calif.) and
Natasha Shrivastava (San Diego, Calif.) each handed out 13 assists.
Conn College (5-4 overall) will play at Williams College on Friday, September 30 at 7 p.m.
