Volleyball Tripped Up at Williams

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Connecticut College women's volleyball team fell 3-0 at Williams College on Friday night in NESCAC action at Chandler Gymnasium.

The Ephs won by set scores of 25-23, 25-14 and 25-10 to improve to 6-3 overall and 3-1 in conference play. Marit Hayem led Williams with a match-high 10 kills on 15 swings and hit .600 in the match.

Riley Lord (Exeter, N.H.) paced the Camels with seven kills while Julia Dailey (Charlottesville, Va.) added a match-high 14 digs.

Conn looked to be in control in the opening set but couldn't close it out late. The Camels took the lead at 9-8 on a kill by Emma Wheeler (Meredith, N.H.) and played from in front, eventually leading by as many as five at 21-16. The Ephs turned the tables with a 6-0 run to regain the advantage, with a Conn timeout failing to stem the tide.  Moments later, with the score knotted at 23-23, Williams secured the final two points on back-to-back kills by Christina Conforti and Anna Tosolini to steal the set.

The Camels fell behind early in the second set and never recovered. The story was the same in the third set as Williams scored nine straight points to build a 14-5 lead.

Conn College (5-5 overall, 1-3 NESCAC) will play at Amherst College on Saturday, October 1 at 2 p.m.
