NEW LONDON, Conn. – In its second dual meet of the holiday weekend, the Connecticut College men's swimming and diving team picked up a 164-124 victory over Colby College on Monday afternoon at Lott Natatorium.
Six Camels earned individual wins on the day, with four taking home a pair of first-place finishes. Overall, Conn took top honors in 11 of 16 events en route to the victory over the Mules, who are ranked fifth regionally and received votes in the latest CSCAA Division III Top 25 Poll.
The Camels dominated the distance freestyle events, with
Matthew Laclef (Bethesda, Md.) claiming wins in both the 1,000 free (9:50.81) and 500 free (4:45.98).
Will Nash (Chatham, N.J.) took second in the 1,000 and third in the 500 while
Marc Stern (Chappaqua, N.Y.) finished as runner-up in the 500.
Justin Finkel (Cheshire, Conn.) continued his strong season with wins in the 100 free (46.67) and the 200 free (1:43.16).
Dash Hunter (Westport, Conn.) did the same in the 100 breast (59.58) and 200 breast (2:11.42), logging the top times by a Conn swimmer all season.
Stern and
Sean Geisler (New Paltz, N.Y.) each picked up individual wins as well. Stern touched the wall first in the 200 fly (1:55.04) while Geisler turned in his top time of the season in the 50 free (20.84).
In a head-to-head battle in the diving well,
Kai Listgarten (San Mateo, Calif.) delivered wins in both the 1M (295.20) and 3M (276.75) events.
The Camels also started the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay, where the team of
Mitchell Lockwood (Winchester, Mass.), Geisler, Finkel and
Julien Legros (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) clocked in at 1:33.62.
Conn College will next host Amherst College on Saturday, January 21 at 1:00 p.m.
