NEW LONDON, Conn. – In its second dual meet in three days, the Connecticut College women's swimming and diving team raced to a 168-132 victory over Colby College on Monday afternoon at Lott Natatorium.
The Camels took first place in 10 of 16 events and had six swimmers pick up wins on the day.
Tiernan Shea (Grafton, Mass.) and
Kate Edison (Westford, Mass.) led the way, as each earned a pair of individual wins and contributed to another on the relay side.
Conn started the meet by taking first and third in the 200 medley relay, claiming 13 of the event's 17 points. The team of Shea,
Sarah Daly (Mendham, N.J.), Edison and
Anika Svoboda (Westford, Mass.) powered to the wall first in a time of 1:48.96.
The Camels then secured the top three spots in the 1,000 free behind strong swims by
Hannah Guay (Wakefield, Mass.),
Claire Hoffmann (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J.) and
Zosha Trzewik-Quinn (New Paltz, N.Y.). Guay, who clocked in at 10:57.63, also went on to win the 500 free (5:21.85), with both times registering as season bests.
Shea won the 100 back (58:23) and 200 back (2:08.61) with season-best times in each event. Edison was victorious in the 100 fly (1:00.10) and 200 IM (2:14.64). Her time in the 200 IM was also a season best.
Vaughn Ammon (Franklin, Tenn.),
Marie-Eve Hebert (Princeton, N.J.) and
Sarah Franco (Weston, Conn.) also posted individual wins. Ammon clocked in with her fastest time of the season in the 200 free (1:57.78), as did Franco in the 200 breast (2:30.51). Hebert's win came in the 200 fly (2:17.85).
Conn College will next host Amherst College on Saturday, January 21 at 1:00 p.m.
