NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College women's swimming and diving team dropped a 166-125 decision to No. 25 Amherst College on Saturday afternoon at Lott Natatorium.
The Camels picked up wins in both relays as well as four individual events.
Tiernan Shea (Grafton, Mass.) led the way, contributing in both relays while powering to a pair of individual wins.
Shea swam the leadoff leg in the 200 medley relay (1:48.90) as the Camels clocked their fastest time of the season in the event. She then went on to post season-best times en route to victory in both the 100 back (57.85) and 200 back (2:08.13).
Sonora Sandoval (Hood River, Ore.) and
Sarah Franco (Weston, Conn.) also picked up wins against the Mammoths. Sandoval touched the wall first in the 200 fly (2:16.72) while Franco took top honors in the 200 IM (2:13.49), both turning in their top times of the season.
Vaughn Ammon (Franklin, Tenn.) and
Sarah Daly (Mendham, N.J.) helped anchor both relay squads.
Kate Edison (Westford, Mass.) rounded out the 200 medley relay squad while
Anika Svoboda (Westford, Mass.) was part of the winning team in the 200 free relay.
Prior to the meet, the Camels honored their seven seniors in a special ceremony. Ammon, Daly,
Emma Diianni (Wayland, Mass.),
Anya Fitzgerald (Lawrenceville, N.J.),
Micaela O'Malley (Ridgefield, Conn.), Shea and Svoboda all saw action in the final home meet of their careers. [
