Williams Upends Men's Ice Hockey 4-0

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Connecticut College men's ice hockey team fell to Williams on Saturday afternoon on the road. The Ephs scored three goals in the final period to down the Camels 4-0.

The visitors made the game close for the majority of the contest, but a late barrage of goals by the hosts resulted in an insurmountable lead.

The first period concluded in a scoreless offensive stalemate between the two teams. The Ephs edged the Camels 12-10 in shots on goal. Both teams had one power play opportunity each during the opening stanza, but neither could break through on the scoreboard.

In the second, the Camels were on the defensive for most of the period, committing three penalties in the 20 minute span. After killing off the first two, Williams finally capitalized near the end of the frame. Ben Lawrick scored off a wrist shot with the man-advantage to give the Ephs the 1-0 lead heading into the final stanza. Despite the deficit, Camels goaltender Kellen Beauton (Colchester, Conn.) was outstanding during the period, saving 16 shots, only allowing the single goal.

After holding the hosts off the scoreboard for the first 14 minutes of the third period, the Ephs were able to break through off a goal from Jonah Gold.

Just 16 seconds after Gold's score, Mac Carso tallied a goal of his own to extend the lead to 3-0. Nicholas Rashkovsky capped off the scoring spree with less than five minutes remaining to seal the 4-0 victory.

Evan Ruschil picked up the win for the Ephs, stopping 38 shots and earning the shutout. Beauton made 34 saves for Conn.

Connecticut College (2-15 overall, 0-12 NESCAC) will look to end its skid on Tuesday, January 31 on the road against Salem State.
