Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Men's Ice Hockey Falls To Albertus Magnus

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Connecticut College men's ice hockey team dropped a non-conference matchup to Albertus Magnus 4-1 on Friday evening at Ralph Walker Skating Rink.

Forward Alex Gagnon factored in on all four scores for the hosts, tallying a pair of goals and assisting on two more. Albertus Magnus improves to 11-4 on the season.

The Falcons started fast and never looked back. Following a penalty on the Camels, Gagnon scored his first goal just 29 seconds into the game, off assists from teammates Austin Cook and Sam Anderson.

Later in the period, Gagnon was once again the catalyst, setting up Tim Manning for the score to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead.

After an even second stanza, Conn sophomore Jake Hughes (Charlton, Mass.) was able to cut the lead in half just before the buzzer, off assists from Jack Luca (Milton, Mass.) and Sean Detloff (Harrison Township, Mich.). The score marked the second goal of the season for the sophomore.

Trailing 2-1 heading into the third period, the Camels tried to press offensively but the Falcons had other ideas. Just under nine minutes in, the hosts regained the two-score lead when Coleton Cianci scored off a set up from Gagnon.

Four minutes later, the Falcons sealed the victory with Gagnon's second goal of the game to give the hosts the 4-1 win.

Kellen Beauton (Colchester, Conn.) stopped 24 shots for the Camels, while Albertus Magnus goaltender Logan Bateman made 27 saves for the Falcons. Despite earning five power plays during the course of the contest, Conn failed to capitalize on the man-advantage. The Falcons were 1-3 on their opportunities.

Connecticut College (2-8 overall) will try to get back on track tomorrow at 7 p.m. against No. 7 Endicott at Dayton Arena.
