NAPLES, Fla. – The Connecticut College women's swimming and diving team cruised to a 160-77 victory over Grinnell College on Monday afternoon at the Eagle Lake Park Aquatic Complex.
The Camels posted wins in 11 of 13 events, including a sweep of both the relay and diving events. Six Camels picked up individual wins on the day, with both Vaughn Ammon (Franklin, Tenn.), Kate Edison (Westford, Mass.) and Kelsey Halio (Westford, Mass.) leading the pack with a pair of first-place finishes.
Conn opened the meet with a strong showing in the 200 medley relay, clocking in with the event's top time (1:50.70) thanks to the team of Tiernan Shea (Grafton, Mass.), Sarah Daly (Mendham, N.J.), Edison and Ammon.
After a quick turnaround, Edison and Ammon posted their first individual victories in the 200 free (1:58.88) and 50 free (24.58), respectively. Later, the duo locked up wins in the final two freestyle events, with Edison capturing the 100 free (55.44) and Ammon taking the 500 free (5:20.26).
In the diving well, Halio and Leah Mayerhauser (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) took home one-two finishes in both the 1M and 3M events. The two scored 201.6 and 188.85, respectively, in the 1M and 203.6 and 202.90 in the 3M.
Sarah Franco (Weston, Conn.), Shea and Daly each provided solo wins for the Camels. After Franco posted the fastest time by a Conn swimmer in the 400 IM (4:45.94) this season, Shea touched the wall first in the 100 back (59.18) while Daly placed first in the 100 breast (1:09.39).
The meet ended with another relay victory for the Camels as the squad of Anika Svoboda (Westford, Mass.), Marie-Eve Hebert (Princeton, N.J.), Hannah Guay (Wakefield, Mass.) and Shea dusted Grinnell's top squad in the 200 free relay (1:41.76).
Conn College will next swim at Williams College on Saturday, January 14 at 1:00 p.m.
