FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – The Connecticut College women's basketball team opened the 2023-24 season with a 68-57 setback at Framingham State University on Tuesday night at Logan Gymnasium.
Rebecca Oberman-Levine (Hamden, Conn.) and
Addi Hunter (Saint George, N.Y.) scored 13 points apiece to lead the Camels. Hunter wasn't the only Conn newcomer who shined in their collegiate debut, as
Mia Xerras (Charlotte, N.C.) finished with nine points and six assists and
Hayle Thompson (Maynard, Mass.) added six points and 10 rebounds.
Flannery O'Connor led all scorers with 25 points on 10-for-17 shooting to pace Framingham State.
A 7-0 run by the Rams yielded a 17-8 advantage and left the Camels trailing 19-11 by the end of the first quarter. Conn used a 6-0 start to the second period to get back into the game, and by the end of the half the deficit was only two.
Framingham State outscored Conn 21-12 in the third quarter to take control as Gwendolyn Carpenter and O'Connor combined for 13 points. The Camels twice fought back to within seven in the fourth, but the Rams erased any thoughts of a late comeback by going 9-for-10 from the free throw line in the period.
Conn (0-1 overall) will next play Skidmore College at the Trinity Tip-Off on Friday, November 17 at 7:30 p.m.
