HARTFORD, Conn. – The Connecticut College women's basketball team fell by an 80-69 final to Albertus Magnus College in the consolation game of the Trinity Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday afternoon at Oosting Gymnasium.
Mia Xerras (Charlotte, N.C.) netted a season-high 23 points and shot 7-for-10 from three-point range to lead the Camels. She also handed out six assists and chipped in a steal and a block in the contest.
Hallie O'Toole (Wilbraham, Mass.) added 12 points while
Rebecca Oberman-Levine (Hamden, Conn.) turned in nine points and seven rebounds.
Neither side led by more than five in the opening quarter, which ended with Albertus clinging to a 16-15 lead. The Camels swung the momentum in the second period with an 11-0 run that included a pair of buckets by Oberman-Levine. However, Conn's 31-21 advantage wilted in the final five minutes of the half, as the Falcons ripped off 13 unanswered points to lead 34-31 at the break.
Albertus outscored Conn by a 37-16 margin in the third quarter to seize control. The Falcons shot 13-for-17 from the field and 9-for-11 from the free throw line, with Natasha Rivera and Caitlyn Scott combining for 21 points.
The Camels held a 22-9 scoring advantage in the fourth, but the deficit was too large to overcome. Xerras scored 14 points after intermission to lead the charge.
Oberman-Levine, who averaged 14.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game over the two-day tournament, was named to the all-tournament team.
Conn (0-3 overall) will next play at Army on Wednesday, November 22 at 1:00 p.m.
