BOSTON, Mass. - Devon Galizio (Wayland, Mass.) stopped 24 shots for her second consecutive shutout, while Casey Chesner (Great Falls, Va.) tallied two goals, as the Connecticut College women's ice hockey team defeated Suffolk University 3-0 on Friday night in Boston, Mass. With the win, Conn improves to 4-3-1 on the year, while Suffolk falls to 3-9-1.

Conn (4-3-1) fired off the first shot of the contest, but Claire Sammons' effort was blocked. Suffolk (3-9-1) answered with their first shot, but Galizio was up to the task. The teams traded chances in the period, but both goalies were strong, as the game was scoreless after one.

The Camels came out flying in the second period, peppering the Rams goaltender Izzy Buckett with shots, but were unable to solve the netminder. After a successful penalty kill seven minutes into the period, Conn opened the scoring at 9:45. Kiley Smith (Marion, Mass.) took a shot from the point that was tipped by Chesner, with Kate Hagness (Madison, Conn.) picking up the secondary assist, to give the Camels the 1-0 lead. Neither team scored for the remainder of the period, as Conn led heading to the third period.

The Camels continued their strong play into the third period, doubling the lead at the 7:10 mark. Charlotte Harris (Ystrad Mynach, Wales) connected with Chesner, who notched her second goal of the game, making it 2-0 Camels. The Rams answered, trying to get back into the contest, ultimately pulling the goalie with over five minutes remaining. With just 2:14 left, Claire Sammons (Naperville, Ill.) put the puck into the net, extending the lead to 3-0. Conn closed out the final two minutes to secure the 3-0 victory.

Conn outshot Suffolk 31-24, while the Rams won 26 of 48 face-offs.
