Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Women's Ice Hockey Tops Johnson & Wales 2-0

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Connecticut College women's ice hockey team cruised to a 2-0 road triumph over non-conference opponent Johnson & Wales on Tuesday night.

With the victory, the Camels have won four straight games and have outscored their opponents 11-4 during that span. Tuesday's contest marked the final non-conference matchup for Conn, who finished the season with a 6-1 record against teams outside of the NESCAC.

Senior Morgan Bronstein (Pittsford, N.Y.) got the Camels going midway through the first period on the power play. Following a shot from Galen Kilfeather (Wyndmoor, Pa.) which was saved by goaltender Leah White, Bronstein was waiting at the far post and put in the rebound to put the visitors up 1-0.

Following a scoreless middle period, Conn put up its second goal at the 13:30 mark of the final frame. Bronstein skated into the slot and dished it to teammate Casey Chesner (Great Falls, Va.) who beat White to the near post, giving the Camels the 2-0 lead.

For the remainder of the contest, the Wildcats attempted to get back into the game, but the Conn defense was outstanding throughout, holding the hosts off the scoreboard and sealing the two-goal victory.

The Camels controlled the momentum both on the offensive and defensive side throughout the entirety of the game. The visitors held Johnson & Wales to single-digit shots on goal en route to the win.

Devon Galizio (Wayland, Mass.) made her first career start in goal for Conn, stopping all nine shots to earn the shutout and victory. Despite the loss, White played well between the pipes for the Wildcats, limiting the Camels to only two goals while tallying 32 saves.

Bronstein and Chesner led the visitors with a goal and an assist each. The Camels played a clean game, only committing one penalty throughout.

Connecticut College (12-7-1 overall) will return to action on Friday night at home against Hamilton College.
