NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College women's tennis team suffered a 9-0 setback against 23rd-ranked Hamilton College on Saturday morning at Luce Field House.
The Continentals started the day by winning all three doubles matches, but not without a fight from
Lily Kerachsky (East Greenwich, R.I.) and
Courtney Banks (North Haven, Conn.) at the No. 2 spot. The duo hung tough against Hamilton's Shannon Cicero and Hannah Walpole, who eventually won in a tiebreaker by an 8-7 (7-2) final.
Hamilton didn't drop a set in a sweep of all six singles matches. Conn's best performance came at the top spot, where
Caitlin Cass (Newcastle, Maine) fought hard in a 6-3, 6-3 loss to Hannah Apsey.
Conn College (1-2 overall, 0-2 NESCAC) will next head south for a spring trip that includes three matches in Orlando, Fla.
