SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – The Connecticut College women's tennis team extended its winning streak to five games with a 5-4 victory at Mount Holyoke College on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.
The Camels picked up two crucial points in doubles play before splitting the six singles matches.
Caitlin Cass (Newcastle, Maine) played a key role in the victory, winning both her matches at the top positions.
Cass and
Anna Slopak (Taftville, Conn.) teamed at No. 1 doubles to produce an 8-3 win over Annika Chai and Jaskirat Kaur.
Courtney Banks (North Haven, Conn.) and
Lily Kerachsky (East Greenwich, R.I.) lost in a tiebreaker at No. 2, but
Kinley Yangden (Thimphu, Butan) and
Sana Bhat (New Delhi) won 8-5 at No. 3 to stake Conn to an early 2-1 advantage.
All three of Conn's singles wins came in straight sets. Cass took care of Chai by 6-3, 6-4 finals at No. 1, earning her fifth straight victory. Kerachsky also picked up her fifth straight singles win, dropping only three games in a rout over Cal Smith at No. 4.
Caroline Champa (Boston, Mass.) topped Kennedy Bagley-Fortner by a 6-2, 6-3 tally at No. 6, earning her fourth-straight win.
Conn College (6-2 overall) will next host Emerson College on Thursday, March 23 at 3:00 p.m.
