NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College men's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to 21st-ranked Amherst College on Sunday afternoon in NESCAC action.
The Camels came away with their lone point in doubles, as the top squad of Aaron Fleishman (Brookline, Mass.) and Jules Taylor-Kerman (New York, N.Y.) battled to an 8-7 victory over Amherst's Jakob Esterowitz and Sujit Chepuri. Conn's other doubles teams also put up fights—Walker Mulligan (Guilford, Conn.) and James Serhant III (Hadley, Mass.) at No. 2, and Krishh Tipnis (Thane, India) and Andy Feldman (Newton, Mass.) at No. 3—but couldn't pull out victories.
Amherst won all six singles matches in straight sets, but not without some pushback at the top of the lineup. Both Fleishman and Taylor-Kerman won seven games apiece at No. 1 and 2, respectively, as did Mulligan at No. 4.
Conn College (4-5 overall, 0-3 NESCAC) will next play at Middlebury College on Saturday, April 1 at 10:00 a.m.
