WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Sixth-ranked Williams College picked up a 9-0 victory over the Connecticut College men's tennis team on Sunday morning.
Williams improved to 9-2 overall and 4-1 in NESCAC play. Conn College dropped to 4-7 overall and 0-5 in league action.
In doubles play, the duo of
Walker Mulligan (Guilford, Conn.) and
James Serhant III (Hadley, Mass.) proved to be a tough out at the No. 2 spot. They took six games off Williams' Shawn Berdia and Simon Volkema before falling 8-6, and the Ephs swept their way to an early 3-0 lead in the contest.
Williams went on to win all six singles matches in straight sets.
Jules Taylor-Kerman (New York, N.Y.) took on Kandel at the No. 2 position and tested the region's sixth-ranked player. He hung tough in the opening set but lost by 6-4, 6-2 tallies.
Gavin Anderson (Avon, Conn.) also took seven games off Andrew Chong at the No. 5 spot before succumbing by scores of 6-3, 6-4.
Conn College returns to action at Trinity College on Saturday, April 8 at 2:00 p.m.
