NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College sailing team hit the road for two regattas over the weekend, traveling to St. Mary's City, Md. to compete in the second round of the Women's Atlantic Coast Tournament, and traveling to Hanover, N.H. to compete at the Captain Hurst Bowl hosted by Dartmouth.
At the Women's Atlantic Coast Tournament, Conn placed 11th out of 16 teams with 279 points across two divisions. The A division boat scored 174 points, and had four Camels in the boat, with Viola Henry (Cohasset, Mass.), Maddie Jarbeau (East Greenwich, R.I.), Lily Saffer (Rye, N.Y.), and Stevie Thomsen (Sacramento, Calif.). In the B division boat, Aurora Kreyche (Seattle, Wash.) and Izzy Wu-Karr (Baltimore, Md.) finished sixth in the division with 105 points.
At the Captain Hurst Bowl, Conn placed eighth out of 15 teams, recording 213 points across two racing boats. Alejandro Amezcua (New Rochelle, N.Y.), Liam Gronda (Chevy Chase, Md.), William Hurd (West Dennis, Mass.), Andrew Selian (Portsmouth, R.I.), Vivian Smith (Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.), and Skylor Sweet (Bear, De.) competed in the A division boat, scoring 97 points. In the B division boat, Amezcua, Coco Carragher (New York, N.Y.), Tatem Gee (Burlingame, Calif.), Gronda, Henry Scholz (Lake Forest, Ill.), and Smith raced for the Camels, tallying 116 points.
Conn returns to action next weekend, hosting the second round of the Open Atlantic Coast Tournament and heading to Durham, N.H. to compete at University of New Hampshire.
