WATERFORD, Conn. – The Connecticut College men's cross country team finished 17th out of 35 teams at the 2024 Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Harkness Memorial State Park.
The 8K race featured eight teams ranked in the most recent United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division III Coaches Poll. No. 11 NYU, the highest-ranked team in the field, took home top honors with 80 points, finishing just ahead of No. 14 St. Olaf (95 points). Roger Williams' Nathan Tassey turned in the top individual performance of the day, breaking the tape in 24:05.3.
Conn's top-5 runners all recorded personal-best 8K times.
Matt Scardigno (Port Washington, N.Y.), competing in just his second race of the fall, paced the group with a time of 24:51.0 and finished 25th overall.
Ellis Iurilli-Hough (Melrose, Mass.) was the next Camel across the line, placing 79th in 25:52.4.
Anthony Belford (Bay Shore, N.Y.),
Josh Barzilai (Princeton, N.J.) and
Sam Walker (Newburyport, Mass.) rounded out the scoring for the hosts. Belford (26:07.1) crossed the finish in 100th while Barzilai (26:41.6) and Walker (26:58.7) took 140th and 151st, respectively.
Deem Quinn (Cranston, R.I.) and
Kevin Lieue (Bellevue, Wash.) filled out Conn's top-7. Quinn placed 178th (27:20.6) while Lieue took 220th (28:17.4).
Conn will next compete at the NESCAC Championship on Saturday, November 2 in Brunswick, ME.
