Sailing Hosts Stu Nelson and Competes at Open ACC Round 1

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College sailing team returned to action over the weekend, hosting the Stu Nelson Trophy and competing at the Open ACC Round 1 hosted by St. Mary's (Md.).

At the ACC First Round, Conn placed 14th out of 18 teams, finishing with 321 points across two racing divisions. Three Camels raced in boat A, as Skylor Sweet (Bear, Del.) and Duncan Craine (Weston, Conn.) split the skipper duties, with Vivian Smith (Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.) rounding out the crew scoring 154 points. In the B division boat William Hurd (West Dennis, Mass.) and Henry Scholz (Lake Forest, Ill.) skippered, with Coco Carragher (New York, N.Y.) and Alejandro Amezcua (New Rochelle, N.Y.) rounded the boat, totaling 167 points.

At Stu Nelson, Conn placed 14th out of 15 teams, compiling 337 points across three racing divisions. Izzy Wu-Karr (Baltimore, Md.) and Aurora Kreyche (Seattle, Wash.) competed in the A division, scoring 126 points. The B division boat scored 92 points, with Lily Saffer (Rye, N.Y.) and Maddie Jarbeau (East Greenwich, R.I.) competing in the vessel. The C division boat consisted of Viola Henry (Cohasset, Mass.) and Stevie Thomsen (Sacramento, Calif.) and scored 119 points.

Conn returns to action next weekend, traveling to Hanover, N.H. Dartmouth College, and heading to Annapolis, Md. for women ACC sailing hosted by Navy.
