WELLESLEY, Mass – The Connecticut College women's swimming and diving team opened the 2024-25 season with a double dual meet against Wellesley College and Coast Guard Academy on Saturday afternoon at Chandler Pool.
The Camels picked up wins in seven events to defeat Wellesley by a 179-109 final. Coast Guard, which also defeated Wellesley, downed Conn by a 162-113 final.
The meet started on a positive note for the Camels as the squad of
Morganne Young (Longwood, Fla.),
Campbell Baumgartner (Charlotte, N.C.),
Tessa Gordon (Cottage Grove, Wis.) and
Keira Haas (Berwyn, Pa.) won the 200 medley relay. The group turned in a time of 1:50.42, edging Coast Guard by just under three-tenths of a second.
Leah Mayerhauser (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) also earned a head-to-head win against the Bears. She won the 1M dive with a tally of 205.40.
The Camels picked up several more individual wins against the Blue.
Hope Lane (Swarthmore, Pa.) won both the 200 free (1:59.26) and 500 free (5:26.16), and Young took the 50 free (25.17) while
Claire Hoffmann (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J.) captured the 1,000 free (11:15.25). Baumgartner and Gordon also added victories in the 200 IM (2:15.46) and 100 fly (59.74), respectively.
Conn will next compete at Middlebury College on Saturday, November 23 at 1:00 p.m.
