WATERFORD, Conn. – The Connecticut College men's and women's cross country teams hosted the D3 Challenge on Saturday morning at Stenger Farm Park.
With no team scoring at the event, the Camels had 19 women's runners and eight men's runners take part in 5K races.
Liz Freeman (Maynard, Mass.) turned in Conn's fastest time on the women's side at 19:06.5, while
Kevin Lieue (Bellevue, Wash.) was the first Conn men's runner to cross the finish in 16:28.1.
Sara Braslow (Merion, Pa.),
Julia Coyle (Pomfret Center, Conn.),
Mary Lonergan (Andover, Mass.) and
Phoebe Drohan (Holliston, Mass.) rounded out the top five for the Camel women, all finishing with times of 20:00 or under. For the men's squad it was
Harry Harwood (Woodbury, Conn.),
Nicholas DeMarco (Albany, N.Y.),
Lucas Vasquez (Ewing, N.Y.) and
Max Jervey (Norwell, Mass.) filling out the top five. All finished with times of 16:45.9 or better.
The event served as a tune-up for next weekend's big event. Conn will host the 2024 NCAA Mideast Regional on Saturday, November 16 at Harkness Memorial State Park. The women's race is set to begin at 11:00 a.m. with the men's race to follow at noon.
