NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College women's ice hockey team cruised to an 8-0 win over visiting Albertus Magnus on Friday night from Dayton Arena. With the win, Conn improves to 2-4 overall, while Salve Regina falls to 1-8-1.
Albertus opened the contest with the first shot just 54 seconds in, but Alex Erdman (Lutherville, Md.) was up to the task. After allowing the opening shot, Conn responded and took control. The Camels peppered the Falcons goaltender, Christman Johnson, but were unable to break through. However, Conn finally opened the scoring at 16:41. Conn doubled the lead just 32 seconds into the second period. Serena Seiple (Wilmette, Ill.) converted with assists from Sofia Donnelly (Ringwood, N.J.) and Kiley Smith (Humble, Texas) to make it 2-0. Conn recorded one more goal in the frame, coming at 16:43, as Kate Hagness (Madison, Conn.) collected a rebound, with both Sammons and Smith picking up helpers, as the Camels led 4-0 heading to the third.
The goals kept coming for Conn in the final frame, as Ashley Engle (Basking Ridge, N.J.)) set up Miyu Miyazaki (Chiba, Japan) to make it 5-0 at 4:10. Three minutes later, Sammons finally got her goal, potting an unassisted tally on the power play. With just over six minutes left, Seiple recorded her second goal of the contest off an assist from Bridget McGann (West Hartford, Conn.). Conn closed out the scoring just over a minute later, as Olivia Montembeault (Glencoe, Ill.) tallied her first career goal off assists from Meghan Loeber (Weston, Mass.) and Christine Oar (Scituate, Mass.) to give the Camels the 8-0 win.
