NORTON, Mass. – The Connecticut College women's basketball team came up on the wrong end of a 75-52 final against Wheaton College on Saturday afternoon at Emerson Gymnasium.
The Lyons shot 52 percent for the game and got a game-high 17 points from Regan Keyter. The Camels, who shot 23 percent, were paced by
Addi Hunter (Saint George, Vt.) with 10 points.
In the opening quarter, a 9-0 run gave Wheaton some separation at 13-5. The Lyons pushed the lead to 12 with 1:31 to play in the period, but a three-pointer by Valeria Santiago Dedos (Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico) cut the deficit to 19-10 after one.
Wheaton scored the first 12 points of the second quarter to take control. The Lyons outscored the Camels 26-7 in the stanza—led by nine points from Madeline Duwe—and stretched the lead to 45-17 by the break.
Hunter scored eight points in the second half but couldn't rally the Camels back. Santiago Dedos netted six points in the half and finished with a season-high nine for the game.
Conn (6-3 overall) will next play at Johnson & Wales on Monday, December 9 at 7:00 p.m.
