ORLANDO, Fla. – The Connecticut College women's tennis team opened its spring break trip with an 8-1 victory over the University of Northwestern (MN) on Monday morning at the USTA National Campus.
The Camels swept all six singles matches and took two out of three in the doubles portion.
Courtney Banks (North Haven, Conn.) and
Maya Kowalska (Feasterville-Trevose, Pa.) picked up victories in both singles and doubles to lead the way.
Conn won every singles match in straight sets.
Lily Kerachsky (East Greenwich, R.I.) set the tone at the top spot, downing Annie Orvis by a 6-3, 6-1 final. Banks won by similar scores at No. 2, and
Sana Bhat (New Delhi) topped Elise Jarchow by a 6-1, 6-4 tally at No. 3. Kowalska didn't drop a set against Ana Marquardt at No. 4, and
Ella Griffiths (Concord, Mass.) and
Caroline Champa (Boston, Mass.) each lost only a combined five games at No. 5 and 6, respectively.
In doubles action, Banks and Kowalska rallied to an 8-4 victory at the top spot against Orvis and Abby Johnson.
Caitlin Cass (Newcastle, Maine) and
Lily Dunne (Longmeadow, Mass.) followed suit with a win at No. 3, topping Aby Ross and Madeline Troolin by an 8-4 final.
Conn (2-3 overall, 0-2 NESCAC) will next face the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Tuesday, March 12 at 10:00 a.m.
