ORLANDO, Fla. – The Connecticut College men's tennis team nabbed an 8-1 victory over the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Tuesday morning at the Fee Avenue Tennis Courts.
The Camels swept doubles and took five out of the six singles matches to clinch the second win of their spring break trip.
Jules Taylor-Kerman (New York, N.Y.),
Sigmund Winiecki (Jaffrey, N.H.) and
Walker Mulligan (Guilford, Conn.) each contributed to a pair of wins on the day.
In doubles, Conn's top squads of
Jared Leong (Petaling Jaya, Malaysia) and
Aaron Fleishman (Brookline, Mass.) and Taylor-Kerman and Winiecki each won by 8-4 tallies. Walker and
James Serhant III (Hadley, Mass.) also cruised to an 8-2 victory at No. 3.
Four of the six singles matches needed a third set to declare a winner. Conn came through in three of the four, with Taylor-Kerman,
Gavin Anderson (Avon, Conn.) and
Colby Hall (Duxbury, Mass.) prevailing in a 10-point tiebreaker. Winiecki and Mulligan each won in straight sets at No. 3 and 4, respectively.
Conn (3-3 overall, 0-3 NESCAC) will take on Coe College (12:00 p.m.) and Franklin and Marshall College (6:00 p.m.) on Wednesday, March 13.
