Men's Lacrosse Bounces Back at Nichols

DUDLEY, Mass. – The Connecticut College men's lacrosse team picked up a 15-9 victory over Nichols College on Friday night in a non-conference tilt at Vendetti Field.

The Camels never trailed and had seven players contribute a goal in the contest. Lorenzo Vogliano (New York, N.Y.) led the way with a game- and career-high five goals and one assist while JJ Ford (Clinton, Conn.) added four goals and a helper.

Will Rice (New Rochelle, N.Y.), Will Vivian (Slingerlands, N.Y.) and Richard Skalaski (Annandale, N.J.) combined to make 14 saves in goal for the Camels. Aidan Gaudet (Cheshire, Conn.) went 17-for-28 at the face-off spot and picked up a game-high 12 ground balls.

Conn took control right from the start, outscoring Nichols 4-1 in the opening quarter as four players found the back of the cage. Nick McLaughlin (Wilbraham, Mass.) got things started with a tally just 21 seconds into the game, and Vogliano, Jack Tenzer (Charlotte, N.C.) and Ford followed suit later in the period.

Each team added a pair of goals in the second quarter as Conn led 6-3 at intermission. Aidan McAvoy (Charlotte, N.C.) assisted on both markers, the first to Liam Horkan (Malden, Mass.) and the second to Ford.

The Camels strung together three goals to start the second half, widening the lead to 9-3 behind tallies by Ford, Vogliano and Myles Newport (Oakville, Ontario). Vogliano added two more scores before the end of the period, and Ford bumped the lead to 12-5 in the final seconds of the stanza.

In the fourth, Bobby Chang (South Salem, N.Y.), Vogliano and Horkan rounded out the scoring as Conn took its biggest lead at 15-6. The Bison scored three goals in the final 5:24 but couldn't make up the difference.

Conn (4-6 overall, 1-6 NESCAC) will next host Trinity College on Wednesday, April 17 at 7:00 p.m.
