NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College women's tennis team blanked Colby-Sawyer College by a 9-0 final on Friday afternoon in a non-conference showdown at the Conn College Tennis Courts.
The Camels didn't lose more than four games in any doubles match to grab an early 3-0 lead. Conn then coasted through the singles portion of the competition, dropping a combined eight games over the six matches.
Courtney Banks (North Haven, Conn.) and
Maya Kowalska (Feasterville-Trevose, Pa.) set the tone at No. 1 doubles, securing an 8-4 victory to improve to 7-5 as a duo this season.
Caitlin Cass (Newcastle, Maine) and
Lily Dunne (Longmeadow, Mass.) improved to 2-0 on the year with an 8-4 win at No. 2, and
Lily Kerachsky (East Greenwich, R.I.) and
Kinley Yangden (Thimphu, Bhutan) teamed together for the first time for an 8-2 triumph at No. 3.
Cass, Kowalska and Banks went on to add singles victories at the top three spots and surrendered only four games between them.
Sana Bhat (New Delhi) posted a double bagel at No. 4, and
Ella Griffiths (Concord, Mass.) picked up her third win of the season at No. 5.
Chloe Steinfeld (Los Angeles, Calif.) rounded out the afternoon with her first collegiate victory, winning by a 6-1, 6-2 final at No. 6.
Conn (7-9 overall) will next host Tufts University on Saturday, April 20 at 10:00 a.m. in Luce Field House.
