NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College men's tennis team suffered a 5-4 setback against neighboring Coast Guard Academy on Monday afternoon at the CGA Courts.
The Camels found themselves in a 2-1 hole after doubles play and couldn't make up the deficit in singles.
Jules Taylor-Kerman (New York, N.Y.) picked up a pair of wins on the day to lead Conn, improving to 6-6 on the season in both singles and doubles.
In doubles action, the No. 2 team of
Jared Leong (Petaling Jaya, Malaysia) and
Walker Mulligan (Guilford, Conn.) battled to the finish in an 8-7 defeat to Sean Dreher and Benjamin Bonetto. Taylor-Kerman and
James Serhant III (Hadley, Mass.) salvaged a point at No. 3 with an 8-3 win against Brendan Love and Logan De Los Santos.
After an early retirement at No. 2 singles put the Bears up 3-1, the Camels nearly rallied back as Taylor-Kerman, Mulligan and
Gavin Anderson (Avon, Conn.) all posted victories. However, wins by Myles Decoste and Bonetto were enough to push Coast Guard over the finish line.
Conn (8-8 overall) will next host Trinity College on Saturday, April 27 at 10:00 a.m.
