MEDFORD, Mass. – The Connecticut College field hockey team fell 6-0 at No. 8 Tufts University on Sunday afternoon at Ounjian Field.
Andrea Delgiudice paced the Jumbos with three goals and an assist while Claire Gavin added a goal and a helper. With the victory, Tufts improved to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in NESCAC action.
Hannah Biccard scored just 4:56 into the contest to give the hosts an early lead. Delgiudice then factored into the next three goals—scoring two and assisting on another—as Tufts built the margin to 4-0 by halftime.
Delgiudice completed the hat trick midway through the third quarter, notching her sixth goal of the season. Lilly Ragusa added the final marker with 7:40 to play in the game.
Conn produced both of its shots off penalty corners in the final period. A shot by
Elizabeth Bonner (Westfield, N.J.) was turned away by Tufts goalie Isabel Ginns, and a later attempt by
Maddie Mason (Brentwood, N.H.) went wide of the cage. The Camels also earned all three of their penalty corners in the quarter.
Liz Winemaster (Lake Forest, Ill.) and
Bea Talbott (St. Louis, Mo.) split time in goal for the Camels. Winemaster recorded a season-high 10 saves in the first half, and Talbott turned away five shots in the second.
Conn (1-4 overall, 0-3 NESCAC) will next play at Colby College on Saturday, September 21 at 11:00 a.m.
