NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College sailing team returned to action, competing in four regattas over the weekend, the NEISA Open and Women's Singlehanded Championships at Brown, the Regis Trophy hosted by Boston University, and the Hatch Brown Trophy hosted by MIT.
At the NEISA Women's Singlehanded Championship, Conn sent Natalie Fear (New York, N.Y.). Fear finished the weekend in ninth place out of 14 boats, using a third and sixth place finish over the last two races to secure ninth.
Conn put three boats into the water at the NEISA Open Singlehanded Championship. Duncan Craine (Weston, Conn.) paced the Camels with a 12th place finish with 103 points, while Henry Scholz (Lake Forest, Ill.) claimed 24th with 141 points, and Jake Demos (South Kingston, R.I.), rounding out the Camels in 29th with 161 points.
At the Regis Trophy, Conn finished 15th out of 18 teams, amassing 291 points across the A and B divisions. The A division boat recorded 149 points and was skippered by Izzy Wu-Karr (Baltimore, Md.) with Maddie Jarbeau (East Greenwich, R.I.) joining. While the B division boat tallied 142 points with Lilly Saffer (Rye, N.Y.) as the skipper and Jarbeau rounding out the boat.
At the Hatch Brown Trophy, the Camels finished 17th out of 18 boats, compiling 426 points across the A, B, and C divisions. Skylor Sweet (Bear, Del.), Liam Gronda (Chevy Chase, Md.), and William Hurd (West Dennis, Mass.), were the skippers of the three boats, while Alejandro Amezcua (New Rochelle, N.Y.), Coco Caraggher (New York, N.Y.), Andrew Selian (Portsmouth, R.I), and Vivian Smith (Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.) rounded out the squads.
Conn returns to action next weekend, with one team heading to Hanover, N.H. to compete at Dartmouth, while the other heads to Providence, R.I. to compete at Brown.
