BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Connecticut College women's basketball team fell short against No. 4 Bowdoin College, 65-48, Saturday afternoon in a NESCAC match-up at Morrell Gymnasium.
The Polar Bears remained undefeated on the season at 13-0 (2-0 NESCAC) thanks to a game-high 17 points from Sydney Jones, who also supplied six rebounds, six assists, three steals and a block. Abbie Quinn and Grace Kinu chipped in 12 points apiece while Callie Godfrey supplied 10.
For the second game in a row, Valeria Santiago Dedos (Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico) led the Camels in scoring with a season-high 14 points.
Catie Donadio (Clinton, Conn.) and
Catie Hurley (Walpole, Mass.) finished with 13 and 11 points, respectively, and the latter also corralled six rebounds.
Bowdoin did all its damage in the opening half, racing out to a 14-2 lead en route to a 38-20 advantage by intermission. The Polar Bears shot 15-for-29 in the half and got nine points from Jones. Hurley accounted for most of Conn's offensive production, netting all 11 of her points before the break.
The Camels outscored the Polar Bears 28-27 in the second half but never got within striking distance. Donadio tallied 11 points after intermission while Santiago Dedos contributed 10.
Conn (9-6 overall, 0-2 NESCAC) will next play at Clark University on Tuesday, January 14 at 7:00 p.m.
