NEW LONDON, Conn. – Competing for the second time in three days, the Connecticut College women's swimming and diving team fell by a 146-134 final against Colby College on Monday afternoon in the first home meet of the season at Lott Natatorium.
Conn posted wins in seven of the 14 swimming events to build a 134-128 advantage. However, the Mules picked up an uncontested 18 points in the two diving events to push them to victory.
Six Camels turned in a winning swim on the day, with
Jenna Charlat (Bedford, N.H.) leading the group with a pair of victories. She edged teammates in both of her wins, besting
Rosemary Bonadies (Nashville, Tenn.) in the 200 back (2:10.03) and
Ella Behling (Brookfield, Conn.) in the 200 IM (2:15.02).
Conn took care of business in the distance events, as
Claire Hoffmann (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J.) posted the fastest time in the 1,000 free (10:50.84). In the 500 free,
Chloe Frandsen (Germantown, Tenn.) was the first to the wall in 5:19.95 while
Stephanie Shawaryn (Moorestown, N.J.) and
Hope Lane (Swarthmore, Pa.) rounded out the top-3.
Bonadies added a win in the 100 back (1:00.59) while
Morganne Young (Longwood, Fla.) followed suit in the 100 fly (59.70). In the 200 free, Lane out-touched Shawaryn for a winning time of 1:58.82.
Conn will next host Amherst College on Saturday, January 25 at 1:00 p.m.
