Field Hockey Falls to #18 Williams on Senior Day

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College field hockey team dropped its home finale by a 7-1 final against No. 18 Williams College on Saturday afternoon in a NESCAC clash at Silfen Field.

Kiki Higgins, Claire Colvin and McKenna Dwyer each scored a pair of goals for the Ephs, who improved to 8-6 overall (6-3 NESCAC) on the season. Goalie Ellie Smith finished with six saves to record the victory. Serena Moore (Houston, Texas) netted the lone goal for Conn while Isabella Carnall (Malvern, Pa.) recorded four saves in the cage.

Williams scored three times in the opening quarter to take control. Colvin and Higgins tallied just 32 seconds apart to give the Ephs a 2-0 advantage with 4:08 left in the period. The Camels cut the deficit in half on a penalty corner that saw a tip by Moore off a rip by Sadie Gearan (Lynnfield, Mass.), but Colvin tacked on another score with 35 seconds left in the stanza to give Williams a 3-1 edge after one.

The Ephs added a goal by Anna Miller in the second quarter and led 4-1 at the break. Higgins notched her second goal of the game in the third period, and Dwyer tacked on a pair of scores in the fourth for the final margin.

Prior to the game, the Camels honored their six seniors–Katie Dolan (Westminster, Mass.), Holly Levasseur (Byfield, Mass.), Bridget McGann (West Hartford, Conn.), Lilly Moore (East Sandwich, Mass.), Margaret Sadak (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Sophia Stevens (Shelburne, Vt.)–in a special ceremony.

Conn (6-8 overall, 1-8 NESCAC) will close out the regular season at Wesleyan University on Tuesday, October 28 at 7:00 p.m.
