Women's Soccer Drops Season Finale at Wesleyan

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The Connecticut College women's soccer team's season came to a close on Tuesday night as the Camels fell to host Wesleyan 3-0 on Smith Field.

Wesleyan started quickly with two shots on goal in the first six minutes, but Yael Bugaev (Westborough, Mass.). Conn answered with their first shot five minutes later, but Caroline Camp (New London, N.H.) was denied by Molly Brumbach.

The Cardinals opened the scoring in the 17th minute on a tally from Riley Buehler. Conn answered back with two shots on net, but both Lucy Hurlbut (Westport, Conn.) and Rian Goertz (Weston, Conn.) were stopped by Brumbach. Wesleyan ended the half with two more chances, but Saylor Redfearn (Middletown, R.I.) stopped both chances, as the Camels trailed 1-0 at the break.

The second half started slowly with neither side generating anything in the opening 10 minutes. However, Wesleyan doubled the advantage in the 57th minute as Buehler finished off a pass from Waverly Meyers. The Cardinals had a chance to extend the lead further, but Maia Kafer (Philadelphia, Pa.) came up with the save.

With just over 18 minutes remaining, Wesleyan pushed the lead to 3-0 on a marker from Meredith Feiner. The Camels pushed over the final 15 minutes looking to get a goal back, but Blessing Kieh (Monrovia, Liberia) had a shot blocked while Maddie Lynch (Noank, Conn.) put a shot wide. Conn had one last look at goal, but Alexa Weiner (Fairfield, Conn.) was stopped by Brumbach, as Wesleyan earned the 3-0 win.

Wesleyan outshot Conn 13-7, including 9-4 on shots on goal, while the Camels held a 5-2 edge on corner kicks.
