NEW LONDON, Conn. — In its first dual match of the season, the Connecticut College women's tennis team came away with a decisive 6-1 victory over Endicott College on Sunday afternoon at the Conn College Tennis Courts.
The Camels turned in a strong performance in both singles and doubles play, winning all but one match on the day. Conn improved to 1-0 on the season while the Gulls dropped to 5-3.
Conn swept all three doubles matches, with the No. 1 duo of
Mary Ella Prendergast (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) and
Evin Cosar (Shrewsbury, Mass.) prevailing by a 6-2 tally.
Marylove Reynolds (Little Rock, Ark.) and
Teagan Skulley (Middleton, Mass.) teamed up to defeat Emily Leclerc and Caroline Sutliffe by a score of 6-1 at No. 2, and
Nicolette Baksay (Colonia, N.J.) and
Sana Bhat (New Delhi, India) took care of their opponents by a 6-1 count at No. 3.
Conn also dominated the singles matches, winning five out of six. Cosar didn't drop a game at the top spot while Prendergast won by scores of 6-3, 7-6 at No. 2.
Asahi Goods (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) and Reynolds lost only one game apiece in straight-set victories at Nos. 4 and 5, respectively, while
Sydney Concepcion (Long Beach, Calif.) blanked her opponent to win at No. 6.
