Women's Tennis Blanks Wheaton

NORTON, Mass. — The Connecticut College women's tennis team opened the spring season with a 7-0 victory over Wheaton College on Sunday afternoon at Beard Field House.

The Camels captured the doubles point with three decisive wins and then ran the table in singles behind a mix of straight-set victories and 10-point tiebreakers.

In doubles play, Conn dropped just five total games across three courts to seize early momentum. The duo of Maya Kowalska (Feasterville-Trevose, Pa.) and Mary Ella Prendergast (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) blanked Kara Greenlee and Alissa Ortiz at the top spot to set the tone. Asahi Goods (Putnam Valley, N.H.) and Lily Kerachsky (East Greenwich, R.I.) picked up a 6-3 win at No. 2 while Marylove Reynolds (Little Rock, Ark.) and Teagan Skulley (Middleton, Mass.) triumphed by a 6-2 final at No. 3.

Kowalska carried the momentum into singles action, losing only two games en route to a straight-sets victory at No. 1. Kerachsky, Prendergast and Goods also won in straight sets at Nos. 2-4, while Sana Bhat (New Delhi) and Nicolette Baksay (Colonia, N.J.) prevailed in match tiebreaks to complete the sweep.

Conn (2-0 overall) will next host Smith College on Monday, March 2 at 4:00 p.m.
