Field Hockey Takes Down Eastern 5-1

MANSFIELD, Conn. — The Connecticut College field hockey team picked up a 5-1 victory over Eastern Connecticut State University on Tuesday night in non-conference action at Rick McCarthy Field.

The Camels scored the first five goals of the game before yielding one back with 4:03 to go in the contest. Bridget McGann (West Hartford, Conn.) and Margaret Sadak (Glastonbury, Conn.) each finished with a pair of scores while Katie Dolan (Westminster, Mass.) recorded the game winner in the opening quarter. Isabella Carnall (Malvern, Pa.) finished with six saves in goal to earn the victory.

Dolan put Conn on the scoreboard with 3:47 left in the first quarter off an assist by Meredith du Four (Beverly, Mass.). The Camels added another tally in the final minute of the half, as McGann tucked in a rebound off a shot by Maddie Mason (Brentwood, N.H.) that was blocked.

With a 2-0 lead in hand at the half, Conn doubled the margin with two quick scores in the first 2:33 of the second half. Sadak netted her first goal of the season just 47 seconds into the frame, and moments later McGann buried a feed from Mason to make it 4-0 with her team-leading seventh goal of the year.

Sadak, who entered the game with one career goal, added a second tally in the quarter to give the Camels a 5-0 advantage. That margin stood until the late stages of the fourth, when Eastern's Ava Korineck spoiled the shutout with her first goal of the year.

The Camels enjoyed a 20-8 edge in total shots and doubled up the Warriors in penalty corners (6-3).

Conn (4-5 overall) will next play at Hamilton College on Saturday, October 11 at 11:00 a.m.
