NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College women's swimming and diving team split a double dual meet against Coast Guard Academy and Amherst College this weekend at Lott Natatorium.
The two-day event wrapped up on Saturday afternoon, with the Camels posting a 217-135 win over the Bears and a 251-106 loss against the Mammoths. The win against Coast Guard was the first in the head coaching career of
Kevin Steel, who is in his first season at Conn College.
The Camels picked up a win in the 200 medley relay, as the squad of
Rosemary Bonadies (Nashville, Tenn.),
Campbell Baumgartner (Charlotte, N.C.),
Kate Edison (Westford, Mass.) and
Kailin Fuller (Bowdoinham, Maine) posted the winning time of 1:47.08. Bonadies set the Camels up with the fastest split on the backstroke leg, and Edison padded the margin with a strong butterfly effort.
Morganne Young (Longwood, Fla.) had a productive meet, providing Conn's lone individual win in the 100 back (57.99) by out-touching Bonadies (58.12) at the wall. Young also took third in the 100 fly and supplied the fastest butterfly split in the 200 medley relay.
Chloe Frandsen (Germantown, Tenn.) finished with a pair of runner-up finishes for the meet, taking second place in both the 1,650 free and 500 free.
Sada Fleischaker (Allentown, Pa.), Baumgartner, Edison and Bonadies also recorded individual runner-up finishes over the weekend.
Conn (1-2 overall) will next host Bowdoin College on Saturday, January 10 at 1:00 p.m.
