ORLANDO, Fla. – The Connecticut College women's tennis team wrapped up its spring break with a 6-1 victory over Ithaca College on Friday morning.
The Camels, who went 4-2 on the trip, won eight of the nine matches on the day. Conn opened the contest with three wins in doubles play, and then sewed up the win by taking five of six in singles action.
Evin Cosar (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and
Maya Kowalska (Feasterville-Trevose, Pa.) set the tone at No. 1 doubles, winning by a 6-1 final.
Mary Ella Prendergast (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) and
Caitlin Cass (Newcastle, Maine) followed suit with a 6-4 win at No. 2, and
Sana Bhat (New Delhi) and
Marylove Reynolds (Little Rock, Ark.) made it a clean sweep by a 6-3 tally at No. 3.
The Camels cleaned up in singles, with all but one of the five victories coming in straight sets. Cosar dropped only two games at No. 3, and
Lily Kerachsky (East Greenwich, R.I.) and Prendergast each lost only four games apiece at Nos. 4 and 5, respectively.
Asahi Goods (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) needed only two sets to post a win at No. 6, and Kowalska took the victory at No. 2 via a 10-point tiebreaker in lieu of a third set.
Conn (4-5 overall) will next host Nichols College on Sunday, March 23.
