NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – Playing for the first time in two weeks, the Connecticut College women's tennis dropped a 5-2 decision to Smith College on Saturday afternoon.
The Camels lost the doubles point but got a win at the No. 3 spot. The duo of
Sana Bhat (New Delhi) and
Marylove Reynolds (Little Rock, Ark.) made quick work of Tabitha Bastress and Sophia Dube, winning by a decisive 6-2 final.
All six singles matches were competitive, with Conn picking up wins at the Nos. 1 and 6 spots.
Caitlin Cass (Newcastle, Maine) topped Ayla Hauser in straight sets at the top spot while
Asahi Goods (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) did the same against Dube. Both Camels won by 6-1, 6-4 finals.
Maya Kowalska (Feasterville-Trevose, Pa.) and
Mary Ella Prendergast (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) each took their opponents to a third set in defeat.
Evin Cosar (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and
Lily Kerachsky (East Greenwich, R.I.) put up strong fights but lost in straight sets.
Conn (4-6 overall) will next play Trinity College on Saturday, April 5 at 3:00 p.m. The match will be held at Conard High School in West Hartford, Conn.
