NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College men's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to No. 8 Bowdoin College on Sunday afternoon in a NESCAC battle inside Luce Field House.
Bowdoin started the day by winning two of three doubles matches to grab the early 1-0 advantage. The Polar Bears then went on to post six singles wins, improving to 2-0 (2-0 NESCAC) on the season.
The top highlight for the Camels came at No. 3 doubles, where the team of
Krishh Tipnis (Thane, India) and
Sigmund Winiecki (Jaffrey, N.H.) posted their second win of the weekend. The duo won by a 6-4 final against Jack Pollock and Sujan Garapti. Conn nearly took the doubles point, but
Walker Mulligan (Guilford, Conn.) and
Wolf Sohlberg (Espoo, Finland) fell in a tiebreaker at No. 2.
In singles, both Mulligan and
Gavin Anderson (Avon, Conn.) took their opponents to a third set. Anderson won the opening set against Garapti at No. 6 but dropped the next two, and Walker bounced back to even the match at No. 3 before falling 10-8 in a 10-point tiebreaker.
Conn (4-2 overall, 1-2 NESCAC) will next play at Bates College on Saturday, March 8 at 10:00 a.m.
