NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College men's lacrosse team dropped a 14-5 final against Williams College on Saturday afternoon in NESCAC action at Silfen Field.
Williams never trailed en route to its first league win of the season. The Ephs led 3-1 after the opening quarter and outscored the Camels 5-1 in the second to take control. Jesse Shapiro paved the way with three goals and an assist for the visitors, who improved to 3-5 overall (1-3 NESCAC).
Aidan McAvoy (Charlotte, N.C.) scored a pair of goals to lead Conn's offense.
Graydon Diamond (New Canaan, Conn.),
Liam Horkan (Malden, Mass.) and
Andrew Rainville (Watertown, Conn.) also chipped in markers on the day.
Shapiro got the Ephs on the scoreboard first, but McAvoy answered less than a minute later to even the score. Williams added a pair of goals in the final 5:54 of the period to extend the lead to 3-1, but Diamond scored early in the second quarter to keep the Camels in the game.
Williams netted the final five goals of the half to lead 8-2 at the break. During the stretch, Davis Miller scored on an extra-man opportunity, and Ian Kim won the ensuing face-off and quickly marched in for another score. Ryan Nagle and Ryan Johnson also assisted on each other's goals during the spurt.
The Ephs kept the momentum in the second half, scoring twice in the first six minutes to extend the margin to 10-2. The deficit was too much to overcome for the Camels, who got a goal from McAvoy in the third and tallies by Horkan and Rainville in the fourth.

Will Vivian (Slingerlands, N.Y.) finished with eight saves against 40 shots.
Henry Dumler (Mercer Island, Wash.), who made his first career start, had a strong game defensively with six ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Conn (4-4 overall, 1-4 NESCAC) will next play at Trinity College on Wednesday, April 2 at 7:00 p.m.
