Sailing has Strong Weekend at Home and at CNU

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College sailing team had a strong weekend, hosting the Camel Team Race at Kohn Waterfront and competing at the CNU Women's Regatta hosted by Christopher Newport.

At the Camel Team Race, Conn put two teams into the event. The first team for Conn finished fifth winning five of eight races. Team one was skippered by Skylor Sweet (Bear, Del.), Henry Scholz (Lake Forest, Ill.), Williams Hurd (West Dennis, Mass.) and Liam Gronda (Chevy Chase, Md.), while Coco Carragher (New York, N.Y.), Vivian Smith (Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.), Alejandro Amezcua (New Rochelle, N.Y.), Andrew Selian (Portsmouth, R.I.), and Madeline Synnestvedt (Cohasset, Mass.) round out the crew.

The second team for Conn finished eighth, winning one of eight races. The Skippers were Jake Demos (South Kingston, R.I.), Duncan Craine (Weston, Conn.), and Tatem Gee (Burlingame, Calif.). Rounding out the crews were Finley Regan (Bay Shore, N.Y.), Grace Popp (Greenwich, Conn.), and Synnestvedt.

At Christopher Newport, Conn finished fifth across two racing divisions, scoring 107 points. The A Division boat totaled 60 points, with Natalie Fear (New York, N.Y.), Lily Saffer (Rye, N.Y.), Stevie Thomsen (Sacramento, Calif.), and Maddie Jarbeau (East Greenwich, R.I.) as the sailors. Izzy Wu-Karr (Baltimore, Md.) and Aurora Kreyche (Seattle, Wash.) raced in the B Division boat accumulating 47 points.

Conn returns to action next weekend, hosting a regatta at Kohn Waterfront, and heading to St. Mary's City, Md. for an event hosted by St. Mary's College of Maryland.
