NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College sailing teams returned to action competing at the Sherman Hoyt Trophy hosted by Brown and the Hurst Bowl hosted by Dartmouth.
At the Hoyt Trophy, Conn finished fourth out of 18 teams with 98 points, across two racing divisions. Henry Scholz (Lake Forest, Ill.) and Vivian Smith (Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.) teamed up in the A division boat to finish third with 41 points, highlighted by top-three finishes. In the B division boat, William Hurd (West Dennis, Mass.) and Madeline Synnestvedt (Cohasset, Mass.) finished seventh with 57 points, highlighted by a second and third place finish. The results secure a spot for Conn in the ACC Open Championships.
At the Hurst Bowl, Conn finished 16th with 241 points across two racing divisions. In the A division boat, Lily Saffer (Rye, N.Y.), Natalie Fear (New York, N.Y.), Maddie Jarbeau (East Greenwich, R.I.), and Alex Daigle (East Falmouth, Maine) combined to finish 14th with 115 points. The B division boat finished 16th, with 126 points, as Julia Scipione (Hingham, Mass.), Charlotte McDonald (Portland, Maine), Sophia Rey (Newport, R.I.), and June Roe (New Rochelle, N.Y.) raced in the boat,
Conn returns to action next weekend, competing at Rhode Island and St. Mary's (Md.).
