NEW LONDON, Conn. – The No. 21 Connecticut College men's swimming and diving team returned to the pool on Saturday afternoon, posting a 190-102 victory over Bowdoin College in a NESCAC clash at Lott Natatorium.
The Camels took home wins in 12 of the 14 individual events, improving to 4-0 in dual action this season.
Carrick Shea (Grafton, Mass.) led the way with three first-place finishes while
Julian Carlson (Brookline, Mass.),
Jack Mattison-Gulotta (Florence, Mass.) and
Cam Bizjak (Willoughby, Ohio) added two wins each.
The first individual event of the meet saw
Evan Lyons (Longmeadow, Mass.) squeak past teammate
Campbell Noel (Austin, Texas) in the 1,000 free. Lyons came home in 9:49.59, winning by just a tenth of a second.
Shea dominated the sprint freestyle events, collecting wins in the 200 free (1:42.83), 50 free (21.24) and 100 free (46.72). Mattison-Gulotta was victorious in the 200 fly (1:52.66) and the 500 free (4:44.97), and Carlson took first in the 100 breast (58.87) and the 200 breast (2:07.16).
Bizjak made his season debut on the board, winning both the 1M and 3M diving competitions. He also posted his first regional qualifying cut in the 1M.
Matthew Morris (Alexandria, Va.) and
Stepan Ignatiev (Swampscott, Mass.) supplied Conn's final two victories of the meet. Morris bested teammate
Dawson Rice (Wilbraham, Mass.) in the 200 back (1:57.01) while Ignatiev touched the wall first in the 100 fly (52.34).
Conn will next host Williams College on Saturday, January 17 at 1:00 p.m.
