The teams traded chances but with just over five minutes remaining, Ben Snyderman got Amherst on the board, evening the score at one. The Camels fired off six shots in the final three minutes but were unable to convert as the game was tied at one, after one.

The Mammoths came out quickly in the middle frame as Caden Olenczak found the back of the net to make it 2-1 at 3:59. 10 seconds later, Conn earned a power play, and put three shots on goal with the man-advantage but were unable to convert as the game remained 2-1. With nine and a half minutes remaining, Amherst doubled the lead off a goal from Josh Burke to put the Mammoths in front 3-1 heading to the third.
